Stormwater Infiltration Tank Project in Kuwait

Description of project

In order to meet the increasing demand for housing for Kuwaiti citizens, the Public Authority for Housing Welfare

(PAHW) is undertaking a series if projects outside the current Metropolitan area in the form of new large urban

cities. The Al-Mutlaa Housing Project, located to the north-west of the Kuwait Metropolitan Area, is one such

project. This project is located 8 km west of the Jahra City, 38.3km from Kuwait large Metropolitan area. In order to reuse

the storm rain water as supplement for underground water, 13 infiltration tank will be applied in designated blocks N1 and N4.

Installation Design

The installation design has impact to the calculation of the loads on the tank by the height, position and ground

water of the system. In Mutlaa Project the following tank height and backfill height will be calculated in the

structural design calculations.
